    BACKGROUND AND INTRODUCTION

    Could you start by telling us a little about yourself, including your fitness background, and what initially sparked your interest in joining our CrossFit gym?

    I’m Ilene and one of the “senior” members. I’ve always considered myself active as I regularly go to a gym as well as hike, kayak, bike and swing dance. Due to my gym closing I found CFP.

    REASON FOR JOINING

    What specific goals or challenges led you to sign up with us? Were you looking for weight loss, strength building, community, or something else?

    6 years ago I was shocked to hear I had osteoporosis. It was time to up my game and I joined my first CrossFit gym. One year later I had built not only strength but more bone density. I passed my bone density test this time. Proof CrossFit is vital to aging women. And to boot I love the CrossFit community .

    FIRST IMPRESSIONS AND ADAPTATION

    CrossFit can be quite intense and community-driven. How did you find the atmosphere and culture of our gym when you first joined? Did anything in particular stand out to you, and how easy was it for you to become a part of the community?

    Starting out in CrossFit is intimidating especially as an older woman. But I’ve been helped and encouraged by members and of course the coaches. CFP has been easy to integrate into. Thankfully everything is modifiable and geared to my capabilities.

    PROGRESS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

    Tell us about your journey so far. What are some of the achievements or milestones you’ve reached since joining, and how has our CrossFit gym contributed to these successes?

    As for my progress and achievements, I have worked out in ways I never knew I could. I have many goals I’m still trying to reach and the coaches will see me through.

    FAVORITE ASPECTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

    What has been the best part of your experience with us, and why? Would you recommend our gym to others, and if so, what would you say is the most compelling reason to join?

    I frequently share my progress with my friends because they definitely need to stay strong as they age too. CrossFit can be intimidating but if you look closely there are an assortment of capabilities in the room. Each workout can be structured to your ability. Fear not!

    What do people say about us?

    • Sonoma Strength Academy aka Crossfit Proprius is my sanctuary of positivity. We all know how our professional lives can be. I come in to work out and I get exactly that. The BEST coaches and THE BEST people. I look forward to the grind with these people. This culture is pure.
